Abstract

Costa Rica's education has suffered different changes during the last years which look for the educational system improvement to guarantee what is established in the 78 article of the Constitución Política de Costa Rica “La educación preescolar, general básica y diversificada son obligatorias y, en el sistema público, gratuitas y costeadas por la Nación” (Constitución Política de la República de Costa Rica, 1949) giving the chance to children, teenager, and adults to have the same rights and privileges in their learning process. Based on this, inclusive education has taken a lot of importance in the last years in our classrooms which has become a place of new learning for teachers, and where many times they need support and new ideas to work with their children in the classrooms. This research project was developed in Sagrado Corazón de Jesús Bilingual School in Cartago, Costa Rica, a private institution with big prestige in the province. The investigation was developed with a fourteenth preparatory group (from five to six years old) in which there was the presence of an autism spectrum disorder. The objective of the investigation is to demonstrate how the implementation of the TEACCH methodology may contribute to and help teachers to develop their classes with all their students taken into consideration their different ways of learning and the different disabilities that they present that may become in their fort.
